Brazil is the largest oil producer in South America, the ninth largest global oil producer, seventh largest oil consumer. Brazil has the largest recoverable ultra-deep (pre-salt) oil reserves in the world. Brazil’s oil production is predominantly offshore (94 percent). Significant energy reforms, frequent oil finds, along with recent and future oil bidding rounds have been attracting international oil companies. Brazil is the largest electricity market in Latin America. The country generates and distributes more electricity than all the power produced in South America.
