Upcoming Energy Projects in the Caribbean Region

Energy exploration and production drive the economy of Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana with new opportunities in Suriname and the Dominican Republic. In the Dominican Republic alone, energy projects over the next two years are expected to be in excess of $3 billion. Most of the countries offer several advantages for U.S. Companies: Proximity, affinity for U.S. brands, generally English speaking, purchasing power Renewable energy is an emerging sector in the Caribbean Region. Currently, more than 80 percent of the Region’s electricity is generated from fossil fuels.
